Terms, refunds & cancellation

The plain-English version of how working with me goes. Every project also gets a short written agreement that we both sign; if anything here differs from your agreement, your agreement wins.

Who you’re working with

Ethan's Websites is run by Ethan Long, a sole proprietor in Kent, Ohio. You can reach me at (330) 357-2814 (call or text) or [email protected]. I reply within one business day.

What I sell and what it costs

  • A new website for your business: $750 (USD), one time. This is my launch price for my first 10 clients; after that the price is $995. The price you’re quoted is the price in your agreement.
  • Included: the site live on your domain, the first year of hosting and updates, working through the final details with you before launch, and ownership of your code and content.
  • After the first year: $240 per year for hosting and continued updates. Renewal is optional.
  • Quoted separately, in writing, before any work: built-in booking or calendars, contact forms, email setup or support, and redesigns. Nothing is charged without your OK.
  • Costs from other companies, like your domain name, email or ordering service, stay between you and them.

Payment

  • Nothing is due until your site is live on your domain. There’s no deposit. I send one invoice on launch day through Stripe.
  • You can pay by bank transfer (ACH), card, or check. Payment is due within 14 days of launch.
  • If payment hasn’t arrived 14 days after launch, I may take the site offline until it does. Your domain is never affected.
  • Yearly renewals are invoiced about 30 days before each launch anniversary.

Refunds

  • Before launch you owe nothing. If you see the site and decide it isn’t for you, you can walk away at any point before launch at no cost.
  • The one-time fee is not refundable after launch, because you only pay once you’ve seen and approved the finished site live on your domain. If something I built isn’t working, I fix my own mistakes at no charge.
  • Yearly hosting: if I end hosting for any reason other than an unpaid invoice or a serious breach of our agreement, I refund the unused part of your current year.
  • Have a billing problem? Contact me first at (330) 357-2814 or [email protected] and I’ll make it right.

Cancellation

  • Either of us can end hosting with 30 days’ written notice. Email or text counts.
  • You can simply choose not to renew. If a renewal isn’t paid within 30 days of the anniversary, I turn off the hosting.
  • I may adjust the yearly rate before a renewal, for things like inflation or higher hosting costs, with at least 60 days’ written notice. If you’d rather not continue at the new rate, you don’t renew.
  • However it ends, you keep your code, your content and your domain. I send you a copy of your site’s code at launch and any time you ask.

Ownership

Once the one-time fee is paid, you own the code, design and content I made for your site. Your logos, photos, menus and trademarks are always yours. I keep my general tools and know-how, and I may show your site in my portfolio unless you tell me not to.

Concept work

The concept sites shown on this website are redesigns I made on my own initiative. Those businesses are not clients and have not endorsed me. Their names, logos and content belong to them.

The fine print

Sites are hosted on Cloudflare. I can’t promise any host will never go down, but I’ll work to restore service quickly. I don’t control Google or other search results. Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or lost-profit damages, and my total liability is limited to what you paid me in the prior 12 months. These terms are governed by Ohio law.
